all dressed up

I'm dressed up today, wearing black slacks and a very dressy black and brown faux suede jacket. It's 'winter job interview' dressy, a big departure from the knit tops and jeans I usually wear to work. I'm even wearing (*gasp*) makeup.
The office 'holiday party' is this evening.
Technically, it's not really a party, even though they call it one. That's just the lure.
In reality, it's a chance for the Grand High Muckety-Mucks to make three hours of speeches at the little people, who are all glued to their seats with the promise of food and booze TK (that's 'to come', for you non-publishers), dizzy from low blood sugar by the time they're offered a meager array of limp and soggy hors d'oeuvres and then sent back out into the cold.
At least, this is what I've heard. I've never actually been to one of these things. I usually have better things to do. Like, say, alphabetize my socks.
But I might go this year. I might not. When 3:30 comes and people start loading onto chartered buses for Chelsea Piers, I'll decide. I may go along just to see what it's like after all this time. Or I may just sneak out the doors with the crowd, and then go and treat myself to a movie. :)

Date: 2002-12-09 07:36 am (UTC)I think Matt's holiday party is fun. I'm afraid of my own holiday party. Like I said, it's reported to be all speeches and no party.

Date: 2002-12-09 12:24 pm (UTC)Hey. I was just flicking through your journal and then your "mischievous" mood icon caught my eye.
How can I put this?
That's definitely a happy-making mood icon. Definitely.
Anyway, hey. If you did end up going, I hope
it wasn't too painfully boringyou had fun.-- Katy, who may need to take a cold shower round about now.
