halogen != causation
Monday, February 9th, 2004 08:12 amA nice weekend. Yesterday we visited with
beetiger and
sythyry and Rhys, the baby formerly known as Mothra. I got some quality playtime with Rhys, and was rewarded with a few big toothless grins.
It's interesting how the mind will try to fit causation to events that you know are completely unrelated. Rhys was kind of fussy on and off, as 4-month-olds will tend to be; while the mention of iodine, for instance, probably wasn't the actual trigger of a crying fit, we were careful to speak jokingly around "the I word" for the rest of the evening. Discussion of other halogens, fortunately, didn't seem to have the same effect. Being scientists, however, we had to check. :)
