I'm wearing my glasses now, as i'm writing this.
I rarely, if ever, wear my glasses outside of movie theatres. I am neither nearsighted nor farsighted, but I have an astigmatism, which basically means that my eyes have trouble refocusing at any distance.
I can get by with pattern recognition most of the time. If I see the shape of a word, and the length of a word, I can usually fake it well enough. And really, life is only the slightest bit blurry. It's like it's been hit with the "soften" filter on Photoshop. Just a little misty around the edges. Wearing my glasses sharpens things most of the way back to "normal".
Last night, I wore my glasses to drive, and discovered that I could indeed see much better with them than without them. This morning, peeking over
cowboy_r's shoulder as he typed his LJ entry, I realized that I couldn't see the words on the screen as clearly as I'd seen them when peeking over his shoulder from the same distance earlier in the week.
Maybe I'm just tired, this morning.
Maybe it's time to finally accept what I've known but ignored for years -- that I should be wearing my glasses a lot more often than I am currently in the habit of wearing them.
Naaahhhh...
