It's snowing.
It wasn't snowing at home this morning, but as the bus approached the river, I saw NYC shrouded in a big cloud of white. Sure enough, we saw the flakes as soon as we got out of the tunnel.
The temperature has been below freezing long enough that it had already started to accumulate.
I was born in Massachusetts, lived most of my formative years in the DC area, and ended up in Ft. Lauderdale when I was 13. I moved back up north for university because I thought I missed snow. I learned that it's beautiful when it exists for playing and watching, and is a completely different thing when you actually have to get anywhere in it.
Upstairs, in our lunchroom with the floor-to-ceiling glass, it's gorgeous. A and I are joking about trying to requisition laptops from I.T. so that we can go upstairs and watch the snow while we work.
In other news, it's 9 years (to the month) since I got my first body piercing, and I've been thinking of getting it redone for a while now. I didn't end up getting to Camden to do it last week. On a whim this morning, I wrote to my trusted piercer to see if he's taking appointments.
If I get that done on the way home, I guarantee I won't be feeling the cold.
Update: He offered me an appointment in about two weeks. So much for spontaneity. ;)

* when adding hooks and eyes to a garment, it might work better if the hooks face inward instead of outward.
* there really is enough food in the house that I don't have to go shopping yet, if I'm creative about it.
* mail order beats going to the mall, especially this time of year.
* "light classical music" makes for nice background noise.
* Cowboy_R has a very pleasant voice.
