An article from The Onion, about Al-Quaeda operatives engaging in telemarketing, was cited as fact in a police news release from a Michigan sheriff's department.

"Detective Dan Nichols, who wrote the release, said Tuesday he did collect some of the information from The Onion, not knowing it was a humor publication."

The Onion has been cited as fact previously, by a Bejing newspaper.

Yes, I'm still here. Work's been busy, I've been deep in thought, and I just haven't been motivated to write. I've been brooding and weepy in equal measure, and I don't like to write entries that are going to make people worry about me, when I'm fine and it's just that I'm feeling a little moody and I know it'll pass.

There's a "what do you know about me" survey/questionnaire thing going around, but honestly, I think the only real question on there is the "Would you kiss me?" one. I think all the other questions only exist to surround that one and give people a context in which they can ask it of all their friends. I'm fairly sure which of my friends would kiss me, so I'm going to pass on the survey, if you don't mind. ;)

What have I been up to? Not much, really. I finished the book, though I skipped out on proofreading and just plain read the last few chapters, so I still need to go back and flag errors on those pages. I rented The Big Easy on [livejournal.com profile] aalyara's recommendation and enjoyed it, and I also rented The Contender, which I really liked, even though it was hard to watch in places. I returned those today, and Monsters Inc. (which I haven't seen yet) should be coming next. Hopefully it'll get here before Sunday, so that Matt can watch it with me if he wants to.

My second Project Liberty appointment is tomorrow morning, bright and early, and I think I'll be going to see "42nd Street" in the afternoon. I'm not sure yet - I might end up at "Into the Woods" instead. It's a work thing, so I don't get the final say in which ticket I get.

And now I'm off to pour myself some juice and watch Buffy. I missed last week's because I forgot the season was starting. I'm not a rabid fan or anything -- X-Files was my one and only rabid fandom experience -- but it's a decent show, and more importantly, it will give me something to talk about with the rabid fan I'm having lunch with tomorrow. :)

I'll probably be around the usual ICQ/AIM type places a bit later.
