things to look forward to

I talked to the Cute Girl last night. She sounds really sweet and a little shy and giggly. She has the slightest hint of a hispanic accent in her voice. We decided to meet at the Angelika after work and pick a movie when we get there.

I'm hoping at least one of my multiple messages got to Steve yesterday so that he can stop worrying and enjoy the rest of his florida stay. I completely relate, though, and it's good to know that someone else panics about the little things as much as I do. Of *course* we're still meeting you at the airport, silly! :)

All the housecleaning that I meant to do this week will have to be done tonight. Matt thinks it shouldn't be too bad. I suspect most of it will involve moving large piles of junk upstairs and into a closet. ;)

I think I've found a way to beat the spreadsheet into submission and conquer my evil report from hell. I came up with it while discussing options with FT yesterday. I played with it a bit and then ran it by the boss, who was impressed and thinks it will likely work. Rar!

inside phrases

Inspired (again) by Michele's blog and the origins of Do not pee in the Millennium Falcon, I'm thinking about the various inside jokes / words / phrases that I have with various people, which make perfect sense to us but seem incomprehensible to others.

Some of them stem from simple typos [*blinkt*], some through shared experience, some through media reference.

It seems appropriate to relate my own Star Wars story here, while I reflect on the etymologies of such classics as railiens, weem, woogums, pucks, and "i did it on purpose", and try to think of the others that I probably take for granted.
