What do you do with a free airplane ticket, good to anywhere in the U.S.?

If you're me, you use it to go someplace you've never been, and visit someone you've wanted to meet.

So I caught an airship and sailed on into Sky Harbor, Arizona for the three-day weekend, and had me some quality time with [ profile] cowboy_r.

In addition to his other talents, turns out he's a damn fine tour guide.

The warm, dry air cleared up my cold. Not completely, but enough that it didn't bother me too much. I saw desert, mountains, and tweeting birds stars. ;)

I think I can say with certainty that I'll be wandering out that way again sometime. Hopefully sometime soon.

things i learned last night:

* when adding hooks and eyes to a garment, it might work better if the hooks face inward instead of outward.

* there really is enough food in the house that I don't have to go shopping yet, if I'm creative about it.

* mail order beats going to the mall, especially this time of year.

* "light classical music" makes for nice background noise.

* Cowboy_R has a very pleasant voice.

Yes, I'm still here. Work's been busy, I've been deep in thought, and I just haven't been motivated to write. I've been brooding and weepy in equal measure, and I don't like to write entries that are going to make people worry about me, when I'm fine and it's just that I'm feeling a little moody and I know it'll pass.

There's a "what do you know about me" survey/questionnaire thing going around, but honestly, I think the only real question on there is the "Would you kiss me?" one. I think all the other questions only exist to surround that one and give people a context in which they can ask it of all their friends. I'm fairly sure which of my friends would kiss me, so I'm going to pass on the survey, if you don't mind. ;)

What have I been up to? Not much, really. I finished the book, though I skipped out on proofreading and just plain read the last few chapters, so I still need to go back and flag errors on those pages. I rented The Big Easy on [ profile] aalyara's recommendation and enjoyed it, and I also rented The Contender, which I really liked, even though it was hard to watch in places. I returned those today, and Monsters Inc. (which I haven't seen yet) should be coming next. Hopefully it'll get here before Sunday, so that Matt can watch it with me if he wants to.

My second Project Liberty appointment is tomorrow morning, bright and early, and I think I'll be going to see "42nd Street" in the afternoon. I'm not sure yet - I might end up at "Into the Woods" instead. It's a work thing, so I don't get the final say in which ticket I get.

And now I'm off to pour myself some juice and watch Buffy. I missed last week's because I forgot the season was starting. I'm not a rabid fan or anything -- X-Files was my one and only rabid fandom experience -- but it's a decent show, and more importantly, it will give me something to talk about with the rabid fan I'm having lunch with tomorrow. :)

I'll probably be around the usual ICQ/AIM type places a bit later.
